Gertrude + SoundLinks Hybrid Model
Secure Acoustic Communications for Submarines (One-Pager)
🔍 Overview
Combine Gertrude’s underwater voice channel with SoundLinks’ inaudible Digital Identity (DID) embedding. Operators keep speaking normally; machines verify origin, integrity, and short mission tokens in real time.
🎙️ Baseline (Gertrude)
- Medium: Acoustic (sonar-like voice in water)
- Purpose: Real-time voice between subs/ships
- Range: Few–tens of km (env. dependent)
- Weakness: Interceptable/spoofable; reveals activity
🔊 SoundLinks Layer
- Embedding: Psychoacoustically masked, inaudible data in the audio waveform
- Security: DID + timestamp + nonce + MAC/signature (optionally ledger-anchored)
- Payload: Ultra-compact tokens (IDs, brevity codes, IFF flags)
- Reqs: Embed/extract software on comms suite endpoints
